What type of projects can you design?
I service my clients with a variety of talents. I try not to limit myself to a specialty. Much of my career has been in print-based design: brochures, corporate  I. D., direct mail (postcards). I really enjoy digital retouching and illustration. I'm working with some of the newest technology in variable media and web design.
What is the design process?
It starts with information-gathering; we meet to exchange ideas and expectations. I research and gather materials, then produce rough drafts. We decide on a direction and I move forward with the design. We edit as needed, then I finalize publication of the files.
What does the client supply?
Clients supply background information about previous or similar projects; pre-existing artwork (logos, images, etc.) reduce the cost of a project.
Can the production and delivery of projects be included?
I can use my many contacts in the business to gather quotes and get projects produced. Outsourcing may require advance payment.
What the turnaround time on a project?
We will draft a production schedule after the information-gathering is complete. Additional adjustments after the first draft and second edits will effect the job quote. It's important to organize the project up-front to streamline the process.
What is chargeable and what is a built-in cost?
Depending on the project, chargeable costs are: research, design, illustration, retouching, file preparation, proofs and associated delivery charges. Built-in costs are: estimating, administrative duties, experimental and training on new techniques, billing, reasonable amounts of travel and phone calls.
How are images acquired and can they be adjusted?
Images can be purchased from stock photography galleries, or through my associations with photographers, if not supplied by the client. I will adjust images to enhance their production as needed. I have full capabilities in retouching and color adjustment.
Who owns the design and files?
Once payment is received the client owns the files and designs. I reserve the right to display the projects for my promotional portfolio.
